Dark World Films was founded on October,10,2007, By Horrorboy04. After several bad events with sims99 and being kicked out of 1989 Productions (Echo Films) Horrorboy was a outsider of the Sims Community. Several people hated him because of the events on Sims 99, but this didn’t put Horrorboy down.

In October 2007 Horrorboy had the idea of making his own studio, similar to the studio 1989 Productions. Where a group of directors will come together and work in a group to provide high quality Sims movies, a Sims Machinima Directors Alliance (SMDA). Several names for the future studio were tossed around, but after Horrorboy wrote his idea's down, he came to the conclusion that he had been using the word , “Dark” extensively to describe his studio to others. Thus, Dark World Films became the name of the studio. “Dark” for the themes portrayed in the films and “World” because several of the directors were from other countries around the globe.

 The studio opened up with three directors, Horrorboy04, Bloodeua and PabloS. The studio made a big splash when it first premiered, many people liked that these selected and talented directors worked together and were a team. Dark World Films popularity began to increase over the next few months, but in early 2008 Bloodeua decided to depart DWF after being a part of two other ones (Twisted Mother Studio's & Echo films) and she decided to make her own studio (Mizuki Films).

The search began to replace Bloodeua. Female directors were highly in favor due to Bloodeau’s request on her departure. For DWF needed a “feminine” touch. In early 2008, Kiddiisohsoretro (Kiddicliche) caught the attention of Horrorboy with her video Face Down. When asked to be a director of Dark World Films, she gladly accepted.

In early 2008, Dark World Films started the year with a new director for PabloS was dismissed by DWF after not making movies for a long period of time and his association with Missing Marple at the time, when Horrorboy and MM had a conflict. In the middle of 2008, Horrorboy and Kiddicliche decided to revamp the studio by adding a new female director and also another male director to replace PabloS. 4564gfghgf replaced PabloS because of his amazingly advanced filming techniques at such a young age, while TheOneMuse was added in the studio for her creative storytelling and memorable characters.

Dark World Films style and influences further evolved it to an even darker studio then before. In 2008 the studio was one of the most popular SMDA at the time, but a chain of bad incidents came to the studio. 4564gfghgf was dismissed out of the studio after Horrorboy doubted his trust in the studio causing more controversy in and out of the studio. Once again the search was on to replace 4564gfghgf.

In 2008 HorridHalloween caught the attention of Horrorboy, but another director was in the run as well. A debate between HorridHalloween, Oritasho and XXRianXX began in Dark World Films. Horrorboy and Kiddicliche discussed the matter several times and decided to add HorridHalloween as a member of the studio. 2008 Ended and Dark World Films was doing great, they won several awards and made a plan to make 2009 their year once again. The beginning of 2009 was slow for Dark World Films, all four directors were extremely busy with real life situations and the BSOD were affecting all of them.

Dark World Films appeared to be inactive for a couple of months, but they decided to revamp the studio once again and take on a whole new aspect of film. On June 25th 2009, with the release of their brand new website, where the first time ever the Dark World Films logo was changed and the look and feel as well also. Dark World Films offered 4564gfghgf a second chance to be in the studio and he changed his username to Affirmatio. The studio now has five directors, more directors then ever before. In July 2, 2009 It was annouced that DWF director HorridHalloween was dropped outta DWF after being inactive for the past months. That same month DWF released a video annouceing they are looking for a new director, the new director will be annouced on July 15th. But, in a turn of event's DWF decided why add a 5th member ? If the 4 right now are the most loyal and most dedicated, so it was decided that DWF would stay only with 4 members. On August 10th Adfirmatio decided to leave DWF, he decided to go solo with his own studio (Adfirmatio Productions) this leaveing DWF with 3 members.
